Most NZ subcontractors aren't actually sending payment claims.

They send Xero invoices. Under the Construction Contracts Act 2002, those usually aren't enforceable claims, which means the Main Contractor doesn't have to follow the statutory schedule or payment timeline. You lose the legal protection the Act was designed to give you.

Why this matters: a compliant claim flips the burden. The Main Contractor must issue a payment schedule within the working days set in your contract, or pay the full claim. A Xero invoice doesn't give you that protection.

Is my data safe? Could an outside AI provider see my contracts?
We use enterprise AI Application Programming Interfaces (APIs): the secure services our software uses to read your documents. Those APIs are contractually barred from training on, or keeping, your data. Your contracts and claims stay yours, hosted in AWS Sydney for NZ data residency, and never shared between customers.
What does "CCA 2002 compliant" actually mean?
The Construction Contracts Act requires specific wording, a clear reference period, and statutory notice for a document to count as an enforceable payment claim. We include all of it on every claim, on every job, so the Main Contractor has to respond under the Act's rules.
Do I have to give up Xero?
No. Claimit handles the compliant claim and the statutory cycle; Xero stays your accounting system of record. Once a payment lands, we reconcile it cleanly so your books match reality.
What if my crew doesn't want another app?
Nobody on the tools installs anything. Claimit lives with whoever already handles your paperwork: the foreman, the admin, you. The crew carry on filling in the same paper daywork sheets the Main Contractor hands them. Whoever collects those sheets snaps a photo of each one, around five seconds per docket. It's a camera, not a new system to learn.
